Hello, welcome to Lancashire, Pendle Hill home of the legendary Pendle Witches, the delightful village of Barley and especially to The Pendle Inn. Deep in the heart of Witch Country an increasing number of people of all ages, yes even present day children are fascinated by the legends that persist and are drawn to the region to travel the Witches Trail, a 45 mile route through some of Britain’s most glorious countryside, not fully appreciated by the Pendle Witches who travelled the route for their trial at Lancaster where they were given a “suspended sentence”....and hanged!
Today’s traveller though is more likely to enjoy a leisurely stroll along one of the waymarked footpaths before returning to this charming Pendle Inn to enjoy a drink in our warm and cosy bar followed by a meal in our conservatory area or, during the summer months, you may prefer the patio. The choice available via our menu is extremely attractive as are the prices. Food is home cooked using local produce and how better to end the day or enjoy lunch during the course of it than with a meal at The Pendle Inn.
Vegetarians are well catered for as are children and starters include some unusual choices such as Grilled Horseshoe Black Pudding with Mustard Sauce and Apple Compote, Thai Style Fish Cakes with Chilli Pickle or if feeling more traditional; Chef’s Soup of the Day is always hugely popular. On to the main course and Pendle Pie, Chef’s Curry, Roast of the Day feature as just a few of the options available. The menu is further augmented by a choice of sandwiches and platters, home made pies and deliciously filled jacket potatoes. You will not leave the Pendle Inn table hungry but with another experience, this time gastronomic, literally under your belt!
You have enjoyed a uniquely fascinating day exploring the area and pleasantly exhausted a few pre-meal drinks in the Pendle Inn’s bar before a memorable meal and a nightcap whilst reflecting a hugely rewarding and enjoyable day.
And so to bed!
